About the Bupa Foundation

The Bupa Foundation aims to support studies that have the potential to improve the health of individuals in the UK and internationally. It does this in four ways:

The Bupa Foundation has donated £30.5 million to medical research since its inception in 1979.

Approximately £2.5 million has been allocated to healthcare initiatives in 2011 and these are being undertaken by research teams within the NHS and UK universities. This year Bupa donated £2.6 million to the Foundation. Further money for the Foundation’s causes is received through personal donations and legacies.

The Bupa Foundation recently attained best practice status in the 2011 AMRC peer review audit. This audit is carried out every five years and focuses on the AMRC's principles of peer review: accountability, balance, independence, rotation and impartiality.
