Multi-Country grant

Each year since 2001, the Bupa Foundation has run a specialist themed grants programme to promote research into a specific area of medical care. This programme has always been open to applicants from specified countries in addition to those from the UK.

From now, to encourage international collaboration, there is an additional requirement that applications must be for work in at least two of the specified countries. We have renamed the programme 'Multi-country Grants' to reflect this change.

A total grant of up to £600,000 was awarded to fund one multi-country* initiative of one to three years duration, under the first funding theme on sustained behaviour changes. This year the theme is:

"Enabling sustained behaviour changes in physical activity and/or nutrition amongst children, families or in the workplace or educational establishments"

*This should be defined as a project carried out in at least two of the following countries: United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, the United States or India.

In 2011, the grant was awarded to Dr Frank Eves at the University of Birmingham.
